During the Long Night of Munich Museums, for the 25th time, the museums and cultural institutions of Munich are opening their doors to the night owls and getting visitors to experience art, history, science and culture in a new light.

Long Night of Munich Museums (Langen Nacht der Münchner Museen)

This October 19, the Long Night of Munich Museums will bring people of all ages together in a shared passion for the beautiful, the inspiring and the meaningful.

On the night, more than 100 venues give you the chance to experience the diversity and depth of Munich's art and cultural scene. In addition to all the usual workshops, presentations and events that are scheduled, a specially curated anniversary program made up of 25 highlights awaits you.

Which venues are included

With over 100 museums and institutions taking part, there's too many to list here, but here's just a few of the places you can get in after-hours:

  • State Museum of Egyptian Art
  • German Museum
  • Bavarian National Museum
  • Jewish Museum
  • Museum of Five Continents
  • House of Art
  • Max Planck Society
  • MVG Museum

Children like museums too!

For those whose kids also love to explore a museum but maybe don't want to (or aren't allowed to) stay up too late, 14 venues are running special children's programmes from 2pm-6pm. Pre-history, art and design, LEGO, sports and volcanoes - whatever your little ones are into, there's bound to be an event that feels tailor-made for them!

Attending the Long Night of Munich Museums

With so many museums taking place, you might wonder how you are meant to get between them all. Worry not! One great feature of the Long Night of Munich Museums is the five different shuttle bus routes that will ferry you around the city for free!

One ticket gets you in everywhere, but be aware you may have to queue to enter the most popular places. The anniversary events and tours are included in the ticket price, but you may have to register in advance to secure a spot.

You can check out everywhere that's taking part and buy your tickets on the Long Night of Munich Museums website.
