All adults in state of Bremen to receive free FFP2 masks
In light of Germany’s new mask rule to combat COVID-19, the state of Bremen has decided to give out free FFP2 masks to all residents aged between 15 and 59.
Free masks for all in Bremen and Bremerhaven
State authorities in Bremen have announced that all residents of Bremen and Bremerhaven will be provided with FFP2 masks. A press release from the Senate announced that five free FFP2 masks would be sent in the post to all residents aged between 15 and 59. The masks should arrive at the beginning of February.
“We want to ensure that everyone, regardless of their own financial resources, can be guaranteed this high level of protection,” said Health Minister Claudia Bernhard. Up until now, only people above the age of 60 have been able to get FFP2 masks for free, thanks to a nationwide distribution scheme spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Health.
New mask rule comes into effect on February 1 in Bremen
The new requirement to wear “medical masks” (i.e. disposable surgical masks or FFP2 / KN95 / N95 masks) in all shops and on public transport will come into effect in the state on February 1, 2021.
The city is also planning to cover the cost of taxis to and from vaccination centres for people over the age of 80.
