Berlin’s Thaipark must move out of Preußenpark, authorities say
Berlin’s weekly Thaipark food market must move from Preußenpark to another location, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district authorities have voted.
Berlin authorities vote to move Thaipark
The weekly Thai food market at Preußenpark in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin must change locations, district authorities have said.
The decision was reached following a vote by the district council’s CDU-Green coalition on February 22, citing complaints from local residents and protecting the park as the main reasons for the vote.
Stand organisers of the market, which has been running since 1992, protested against the changes outside Charlottenburg town hall shortly before the vote was held.
Thaipark will move to other side of Fehrbelliner Platz
But Thaipark fans will be pleased to know that while the market is moving it's “not going anywhere”, only to the other side of the lawn.
From April the market will take place every week on the street beside the park, until 2026 when it is scheduled to move to the other side of the nearby Fehrbelliner Platz.
