Do you dare put your nerves to the test at the oldest and most revered Halloween event in Germany? Taking place at Königstein Castle near Frankfurt - one of the largest 11th century castles in Germany - this is one of the most terrifying Halloween events you are likely to ever attend.

Germany’s oldest and largest Halloween party

This event has been terrifying people since 1977. Until 2023, it was held each year in the aptly named Castle Frankenstein, but due to extensive renovations, it is moving to creepy Königstein Castle for at least a few years. One thing is certain - these spooky ruins are the best location for a chilling and thrilling Halloween event, not to mention a must-see attraction in Germany.

Foolhardy visitors are invited to wander through the ruins at their own peril. Beware, for hundreds of ghouls, zombies, monsters and other creepy creatures also have free rein of the castle, turning the grounds into a real haunted house. Actors in the 12 different scare zones, spanning more than 3.000 square metres and divided by theme, will be ready to transport visitors into a terrifying world.

Halloween at Königstein Castle 2024 is freakier than ever

Throughout the ancient castle ruins, walls, battlements and tombs (full of plenty of dark corners to hide in), there will also be numerous self-service stations for visitors to treat themselves to some German food and German beer. However, hellish beings are also drawn in by the smell of freshly-cooked sausages, so on your head be it for a sausage break!

And, just for families and kids, Sundays are children’s day at the castle. Rather than horrifying and terrifying events, expect amusing scares, fun activities and different areas for the kids to explore and discover.
