Berlin Summer Funfair
Every year, the Berlin Summer Funfair brings exciting rides, games, delicious food and fireworks to brighten up the Berlin summer.
The Berlin Summer Funfair (Berliner Volksfestsommer)
The Berlin Summer Funfair has been entertaining Berliners since 1963 - that's a whopping 61 years of selling candyfloss and giving out prizes! Don't worry though, it's definitely moved with the times, and as well as the old-fashioned favourites like hoopla and hook-a-duck, there are also plenty of stomach-churning rides and roller coasters.
Whether you're a five year old who has fallen hopelessly in love with a cuddly dog prize, an awkward teenager on a first date or a group of grown-ups after a fun night with friends, the funfair is a great attraction for all the family.
What attractions are at the funfair?
There are over 70 attractions at the Berlin Summer Funfair this year, so no chance of getting bored! For the thrill seekers, there's the 62-meter-high Gladiator, which will spin you around on its massive arms, a white-water rafting ride and, not for the faint-of-heart, Daemonium, one of the world's largest ghost trains.
If you are a more sedate ride-goer, you might enjoy their two roller coasters, bumper cars and the 35-meter-high Ferris wheel which gives astounding views across the city. For kids, there is a fun-house, a mirror maze, kiddy cars and a boat ride, as well as the usual array of games and stalls for them to test their throwing, archery and shooting skills.
Every Saturday night at 10pm, a dazzling firework display will light up the sky.
