Lieferando now delivering medicine in 18 German cities

Food delivery company Lieferando will now deliver medicines and other pharmacy products to customers in 18 German cities

Lieferando launches pharmacy delivery service

It is now possible for Lieferando customers in 18 German cities to order medicines and other pharmacy products for home delivery.

The courier company has partnered with the AI pharmacy platform GetCURE to expand its delivery services to include a selection of over 500 over-the-counter medicines.

Alongside over-the-counter medicines, Lieferando riders will also be able to deliver baby foods, nutritional supplements, make-up and other cosmetic products.

The new service is now available in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Darmstadt, Dresden, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Freiburg, Münster, Kassel, Nürnberg, Regensburg and Halle.

The expansion in Germany follows several new partnerships between Lieferando and pharmacies in other countries, such as Boots in the UK, Luda in Spain and CVS in the United States.

A subsidiary of Just Eat Takeaway.com, founded in the Netherlands, Lieferando is the most popular food delivery app in Germany with around 12 million app visits per month.

Lieferando also now in partnership with REWE

Alongside takeaway food, medicines and toiletries, Lieferando has recently expanded to delivering food shopping in Germany.

In early September the company announced a new partnership with German supermarket REWE, which promises to deliver shopping to customers within 45 minutes between 7.30am and 11.30pm, and is available in 40 cities across the country.

During the coronavirus pandemic business peaked for Lieferando, but the company is now recording a decline. Parent company Just Eat Takeaway.com delivered 211,1 million orders in the third quarter of 2024, compared to 214 million during the same period in 2023.
