Berlin pizzeria worker defrauds employer of 39.000 euros in cash

A little goes a long way. By pocketing incremental amounts every day, a pizzeria worker in Berlin apparently managed to steal nearly 40.000 euros from his employer.

Berlin pizzeria employee stole over 2.000 euros monthly

A pizzeria employee in the Berlin neighbourhood of Altglienicke has allegedly been caught stealing around 2.200 euros from his employer each month.

By adding a discount to customers' food on the till but charging full price and pocketing the difference, the man is said to have stolen 39.000 euros between December 2021 and May 2023.

Authorities suspect that over the 17 months, the employee pocketed money from around 1.225 customer transactions.

Pizzeria manager noticed something was awry

After noticing that something didn’t add up, the pizzeria’s manager checked a duty schedule and set suspicions on the 24-year-old employee.

The young man has now been charged with theft of 39.000 euros.
